Hash Brown Casserole Novice / Beginner

Ingredients

2 pounds ground sausage
1 (28 ounce) can Tuttorosso® Crushed Tomatoes in thick puree with basil
3 cups (12 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1 (8 ounce) carton French onion dip
1 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  Salt and black pepper to taste
1 (30 ounce) bag frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350o F. In a skillet brown the sausage; drain well. Add TUTTOROSSO® CRUSHED TOMATOES in thick puree with basil and heat.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups cheese, chicken soup, sour cream, onion dip, green bell pepper, salt and pepper. Fold in the hash brown and mix well.
  • Spread ½ of the hash brown mixture over the bottom of a 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Spread ½ of the tomato mixture over hash browns. Repeat layering with second half of hash brown mixture. Top with remaining sauce and 1 cup of cheese. Bake for one hour or until casserole is golden brown.
