Beef & Barley Stew

1pound boneless top sirloin steak, cut into cubes, or lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1(28 ounce) can Tuttorosso® Crushed Tomatoes With Basil
2(14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
2(10 ounce) bags frozen mixed vegetables
1/2cup quick cooking barley
1tablespoons chili powder
1tablespoon garlic powder
2cups water, or more


  • In a skillet brown beef cubes and onions in oil.  Place in a 6 quart crock pot and add TUTTOROSSO® CRUSHED TOMATOES with basil, and chicken broth.
  • Stir to combine.  Add vegetables, barley, water, thyme, chili powder and garlic powder.  Add water to within 1 inch of the rim.  Cook on high until boiling and reduce heat to low and cook for 4 to 6 hours.
