Tips to Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner

Make sure to place the turkey in the refrigerator to thaw 2 days before Thanksgiving

Set the alarm for the morning of Thanksgiving so you can wake up, put the bird in the oven and go back to bed

Purchase everything 2 weeks before.  Items will be less expensive, shorter checkout lines and you know the items will be in stock.

Preset the table 1-2 days in advance; put serving dishes out

Prepare side dishes in advance so they can be warmed up quickly

Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cocoa
1 (15 ounce) can chili hot beans
1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Diced Tomatoes Chili Ready
or 1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Diced Tomatoes Chili Ready with Onions
1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
or 1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes Mexican Fiesta
1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Petite Diced Tomatoes
or 1 (14.5 ounce) can Red Gold® Diced Tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can Red Gold® Crushed Tomatoes

Directions:

  • Brown ground beef, onion and green bell pepper in a large skillet. Transfer to colander and rinse with hot water to remove fat. Transfer meat mixture to large kettle and add salt, pepper, chili powder and cocoa; mix well.
  • Add chili hot beans, RED GOLD® DICED TOMATOES CHILI READY, RED GOLD® PETITE DICED TOMATOES with GREEN CHILIES, RED GOLD® PETITE DICED TOMATOES and RED GOLD® CRUSHED TOMATOES. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to simmer and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
